This can't be good for conservation of the species. Studies (sorry,
I have no names) have recently shown that birds like this, with
asymmetrical markings, have a much lower chance of breeding than
unmarked birds. Even leg bands, if the pattern on each leg isn't
identical, resulted in lower numbers of nests built, eggs laid, and
fledged young.
