At 1840 PDT on Wednesday, April 22, 1998, I had one male Rufous
Hummingbird visit my feeder in Albion. He perched on the feeder and sucked
down a bunch of nectar until a bee ran him off. I then put up a new feeder
which is supposed to deter bees. The Rufous visited again about 1910 PDT
and didn't use the new feeder; about 10 minutes later, he reappeared and
decided to use the feeder. I didn't see him at all on Thursday and I wasn't
home this cold morning to watch for him.
