I birded Vancouver Lake, in Clark County Saturday. At the
Flushing Channel there were 5 HORNED GREBES, 74 WESTERN GREBES and 4
BONAPARTE'S GULLS. On the Shillapoo Game department lands I found a
bright WHITE-THROATED SPARROW of the white striped variety in a flock of
GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROWS. In the same flock there was still one FOX
SPARROW present. HERMIT THRUSHES were in the cottonwood forests and 2
WESTERN KINGBIRDS were flying about the fields. Near the small heron
rookery closest to town there are still 2 GREAT EGRETS hanging around
although I did not see them at any of the nests.
