Saturday I went to check out the Green Road Pond in Burlington.
It is
really beginning to dry up, but still worth checking out. While
there I
heard an American Bittern calling. I was on Kelleher Road about
100
yards west of the Avalon Golf Course dirveway. I couldn't see
over the
dike, so I set up my scope in the bed of my pickup and searched
the dry
marsh grasses and got lucky. I found it and watched it "swallow
air"
and make it's interesting call. It reminded me of my son
swallowing air
so he could burp! :)
