Tweeters,

Saturday afternoon I spent two hours at a relatively new wetland created by
the Yakama Nation to benefit waterfowl. It is just south of the Marion
Drain Road between Lateral A and Ashue Roads. The area has four or five
ponds, depending on the water level with a nice dyke to walk on that makes
loop of about a mile. If anyone is curious enough about this area I should
be able to give better directions for getting there.

I found nine species of shorebirds and one Eurasian Wigeon which made me
feel better about not being able to go to Gray's Harbor for the weekend.

The highlights were:

1 American Bittern - heard but not seen
1 Eurasion Wigeon - very late for Yakima County
50+ Killdeer
20+ Black-necked Stilt
2 American Avocet
2 Lesser Yellowlegs
1 Solitary Sandpiper
1 Western Sandpiper
15 Least Sandpiper
5 Long-billed Curlew
40+ Yellow-headed Blackbirds
