This morning (Tues.) at the LHG I had first sightings for 1998 of 4 American
Pipits in the field NE of the intersection of 156th Ave. and SE 16th St., 1
Barn Swallow near blueberry fields at Larsen L., and 1 gorgeous male Western
Tanager in deciduous trees in woods west of the L. Hills library. Also found
the nest site for a pair of Tree Swallows near Phantom L. Amazingly, I could
not find any Yellow-rumped Warblers even though they were at Marymoor Park on
Mon. in large numbers. We had a field trip there on Mon. morning and saw only
31 species, but did seen one Green Heron fly over, had lots of Marsh Wren and
Common Yellowthroat and a Bald Eagle was still on the nest in trees SE of the
model airplane field.
