Today I birded the Kent Ponds, Nisqually NWR, and Scatter Creek WRA with a
total of 98 species and great weather. I started at the Kent Ponds from
7-8:30am, and was joined by Michael Priebe of Seattle. We observed the
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER previously reported,and other highlights incuding: 1
OLDSQUAW, 2 YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS, 1 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 1 L.B.
DOWITCHER, 2 L.YELLOWLEGS, 3 GR.YELLOWLEGS, 1 DUNLIN, 1 GREEN HERON, 180+
L.SANDPIPERS, 3+ W.SANDPIPERS, and 1 BALD EAGLE. I birded the Nisqually NWR
from 9:30-2pm, with good numbers of YELLOW, WILSON'S, and O.C. WARBLERS, 2
MACGILLVRAY'S WARBLERS, 1 CASSIN'S VIREO, 2 HUTTON'S VIREOS, 3 WARBLING
VIREOS, 1 AM. PIPIT, 1 LINCOLN'S SPARROW, 1 WESTERN TANAGER, 3 PURPLE
MARTINS, 3 P.S. FLYCATCHERS, 1 MEW GULL, 2 CALIFORNIA GULL, 2 SORA, 1 AM.
KESTREL, 32 L.B.DOWITCHERS, 350+ W.SANDPIPERS, 45 L.SANDPIPERS, 20 DUNLIN,
2 BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 5 CINNAMON TEAL, and 6 WOOD DUCKS. The Scatter Creek
WRA south of Littlerock,TH wasn't too productive, but 2 CHIPPING SPARROWS,
1 HERMIT THRUSH, 1 WESTERN TANAGER, and several B.T.GRAY WARBLERS and P.S.
FLYCATCHERS were noted.
