Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday April 30. If you have anything to add call

A bright male HOODED ORIOLE visited a hummingbird feeder near Harrisburg
from April 22 to April 24. Hopefully it will return.

A RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER is being seen at Philomath. It was first identified
as a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker as the red on the nape is very faint.

The spring migration is now peaking with all expected species returning
in good numbers. Very heavy movements of PACIFIC LOONS, BONAPARTE'S
GULLS, and shorebirds are being observed just offshore. Several SOLITARY
SANDPIPERS were reported from the Willamette Valley during the week.

An ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHER was in the dunes near Pistol River April 26. A
SAGE THRASHER was near Cape Blanco on the southern Oregon coast April 28.
WESTERN KINGBIRDS were reported from many areas of western Oregon. A very
heavy surge of YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS passed through western Oregon
during the week.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was reported April 26 just south of the Monarch
Hotel near the Clackamas Town Center in southeast Portland. The
TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS are still being seen at their nesting site on Gertz
Road in North Portland. If they can not be seen in the meadow there check
the feeders in the yard of the white house just north of the meadow.

Mt. Tabor Park in Porland and Spencer Butte in Eugene have been
outstanding for migrants and should be even better in the next several
days. A CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD was near Mt. Tabor April 25.

An EASTERN KINGBIRD was at the E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area north of
Corvallis April 25. A YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD and a GRAY FLYCATCHER were
among the many migrants at Detroit Flats in the Cascades east of Salem
April 27.

A female BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD was at a Mosier feeder April 25. One
summered at the same feeder last year. A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was near
Silver Lake in Lake County April 28.

Migrations are picking up in southeastern Oregon. A STILT SANDPIPER was
along the Double O Road near Malheur NWR April 22. A PACIFIC LOON was on
Krumbo Reservoir on the Refuge April 24.

A breeding plumaged HARRIS'S SPARROW was at Fields April 27. The next day
9 LAZULI BUNTINGS were visiting feeders in town.

Late ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS were still being seen on both sides of the
Cascades during the week.
