The female XANTUS' HUMMINGBIRD continues to be seen daily in Gibsons.
The homeowner requests that birders phone ahead to arrange a time to visit

Sightings for Sunday, August 2nd
Amale INDIGO BUNTING was discovered at the end of Martindale Rd. and Roth
in the Martindake Flats area of Vancouver Island. For further information
on this
bird call the Victoria Bird Alert, 250 - 592 - 3381.

The EMPEROR GOOSE continues its stay at Porteau Cove north of Horseshoe
Bay off Hwy 99. Porteau Cove is the Cove to the south of the Porteau Cove
Provincial Park. It can be reached by walking to the south end of the
walk-in
campsites.

A RED-NECKED PHALAROPE and an AMERICAN BITTERN were reported
from the Reifel Refuge.

Saturday, August 1st
In a late report from the Reifel Refuge were a COMMON NIGHTHAWK, 20
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, and a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE.

The EMPEROR GOOSE was reported from Porteau Cove and a HEERMAN'S
GULL from the dock area near the P.P.

At Iona were a FRANKLIN'S GULL, 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, an AMERICAN
KESTREL and a TUFTED DUCK.

Friday, July 31
The EMPEROR GOOSE was seen Porteau Cove Park. The bird was with a
small flock of Canada Geese. A HEERMANN'S GULL was also seen.

At Iona, 55 Juvenile SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 5 LESSER
YELLOWLEGS and 1 GREATER YELLOWLEGS as well as BAIRD'S,
PECTORAL and WESTERN SANDPIPERS were on the Inner ponds. An
OSPREY was at the Tip of the South Jetty.

A BRANT, 4 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS and a WHIMBREL were on the
Tsawwassen Jetty.

In a late report for Thursday, an Immature FRANKLIN'S GULL has been at
Spanish Bank for most of the week.

Thursday, July 30
Iona had a RING-NECKED DUCK on the outer pond, a BANK SWALLOW, and
28 juvenile SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS on the inner ponds.

An OSPREY was seen near the Arthur Laing Bridge.

A BRANT and eight BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were on the Tsawwassen
Jetty.

A GREEN HERON was seen on the Morgan Creek Golf Course in S Surrey.

A RUDDY TURNSTONE was East of the Marina breakwater at Point Roberts.

In late reports for Wednesday, a BANK SWALLOW was over the ponds at Iona.
2 AMERICAN KESTRALS and 2 PEREGRINE FALCONS were seen form the
Iona South Jetty and 2 HEERMANN'S GULLS were at the tip of the jetty.

Two RED-NECKED PHALAROPES were at Beach Grove in Tsawwassen.
