Birders,
Most of our locally nesting shorebirds recently left.
I'm referring to AVOCETS, BLACK-NECKED STILTS,
and WILSON'S PHALAROPES on the Umatilla NWR
in southern Benton County WA. They left either
July 31 or Aug 1. Also most of the migrant WESTERN
SANDPIPERS also left. Maybe the cooler weather
July 31 helped them decide to go. Back to hot today
with 105 F. BTW our average high in July was 95.
Good Birding,
Craig
