I know the USFS has been surveying for them on the Mt. Hood National Forest,
near the Warm Springs Reservation, which does have them (in Pond Pine). I
know one of the folks involved, and as of last year at least they hadn't found
any. As I understand it, the Hood gives way to the Reservation more or less
where the Pond Pine gets serious.

I don't know how far east the place you mention is, or the forest type. Young
owls can end up in strange places.
