This last Sunday was lucky to get a nice view of a Barred Owl
while hiking in Snohomish County's Lord Hill Regional Park.
The bird was spotted by my hiking partner, Ann Krumboltz, and
we observed it for about twenty minutes while a bit of a fuss
was being made by a couple of Stellar's Jays, who were
apparently not pleased by the presence of the owl. The owl
did alternated between watching the forest floor intently and
snoozing. It was seen on the trail between Beaver Lake and
Pipeline Trail about a mile and a half from the parking lot.
