birdfeeder at UserHome.com

Here's one you might want to try. It's backyard bird feeders from all over
the country. There's a lot of traffic on it, and I got off it because there
were SO many messages every day, a fair number consisting of "Today I saw 3
robins and 4 bluejays in my yard." But they do get into some good
discussions, and if you're looking for an non-intimidating and supportive
forum for asking what you think are really beginner questions, they're
great about that! Lots of people will answer your questions, and I found
the information to be generally sound.

But as others have said, do stay on Tweeters. It's local information, which
is very valuable, and very much worth it! You will learn an amazing amount
reading what comes over it.
