A couple of days ago we took a large branch and tied it to a stake in
our yard. It is about 8 feet tall and looks like a small dead tree. The
birds love it!

Yesterday Sandy stuck half an orange on one of the branches and a few
birds started picking at it, and them more--. Today she put out a peach,
banana, watermelon and more orange. As of this evening, there are on
average about 12-15 bird on the branch at the same time. So far the
birds present and eating the fruit (peach is number one with watermelon
a close second) are: Pine Siskin, Black-headed Grosbeak (m, f, and juv.)
House Finch, and female Bullock's Oriole. The Black-chinned Hummingbirds
are not interested.
