I have Olive-sided Flycatchers which nest in the ravines on either side
of my development. I hear the traditional call pip-pip-pip all summer
long from birds which are just sitting in the tops of trees and
occasionally the same bird will come out in the Quick-three-beers song.
I have never associated the call with juveniles in all the years we've
lived here since I've never seen feeding behavior from the birds making
the call notes. I've only witnessed feeding behavior a couple of times
with this species and I don't remember the call note being used. I'll
have to be more observant. This is a call note I hear daily during
Spring and Summer.
