The female XANTUS' HUMMINGBIRD continues to be seen daily in Gibsons. The
homeowner requests that birders phone ahead to arrange a time to visit and

Sightings for Saturday, August 8th
At the 22nd Ave. sod farms in south Delta amongst a flock of 400+
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER were 2 RUDDY TURNSTONES and a RED KNOT.

TWO STILT SANDPIPERS were again reported from the Beach Grove Lagoon.

Five BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were observed on the Tsawwassen Ferry Jetty.

Seen on the VNHS outing to Debouville Slough were 2 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, 2
SANDHILL CRANE, a TURKEY VULTURE, 8+ OSPREY and a GREEN HERON.

Another GREEN HERON was reported from Piper Spit at Bunaby Lake.

Friday, August 7th
An adult plumaged FRANKLIN'S GULL was observed at the tip of the Iona
Jetty. At the outer ponds at Iona were 5 BANK SWALLOWS and a TUFTED DUCK.

Reported between 88th & 96th on Boundary Bay were 2 BRANT, 2 PEREGRINES, 1
RUDDY TURNSTONE, and an AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER.

Thursday, August 6th
The EMPEROR GOOSE was again reported from Porteau Cove north of Horseshoe
Bay off Hwy 99. The cove is south of the walkin campsites at the Prov.
Park.

An immature FRANKLIN'S GULL was seen at Spanish Banks.

Reported from the Beach Grove Lagoon area of Tsawwassen were an OLDSQUAW
and 4 STILT SANDPIPERS.

Wednesday, August 5th
An AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN was seen perched near the Westham Island bridge.

At the Iona sewage ponds was a STILT SANDPIPER and 4 BANK SWALLOWS.

FOUR STILT SANDPIPERS were observed at Beach Grove Lagoon.

Tuesday, August 4th
Point Roberts Lighthouse Park was the location for 2 FRANKLIN'S GULLS.

A COMMON NIGHTHAWK was reported over UBC.

The Reifel Refuge reported an OSPREY with another OSPREY observed in the
vicinity of River Rd. & 90th.

Monday, August 3rd
The EMPEROR GOOSE was reported from the Porteau Cove area near the Ferry
Dock.

Beach Grove Lagoon in Tsawwassen was the location for 3 STILT SANDPIPERS.

Observed from the Tsawwassen Jetty were a WHIMBREL, 4 BLACK-OYSTERCATCHERS
and a BRANT.
