Thank's to everyone who responded to my first posting re: Pileated's, your
mail was appreciated! They were back at my suet feeder this evening again one
feeding the other. I was only about 12' away from them this time. I couldn't
take my eyes off of them. They are incredible birds! They stayed for about 5
minutes eating, watching and listening. On wednesday I left for Kachess
Lake for 4 days but I was fortunate to see both the male and female Hairy
woodpeckers at my suet again. I haven't seen them for about a month ( they've
probably been here though ). At the lake I only spotted stellers jays.. Thanks
again! PS I've had a red breasted sap sucker in my apple and cherry tree's
several times over the past year, but I'd like to see more of him. Does anyone
have any advice?
I watched and photographed a male and female at the Kalama river for several
days in June eating ( grubs? ) off of a tree. Plus I spotted a Blue heron on
the bank.
