the South Jetty of the Columbia River, Clatsop Co., OR
10 Aug 1998 0905hr to 1005hr

Method: 60 minute station count at 100m west of "3 rocks" on
SJCR using 20x60 Bushnell spotting scope and 8x50 Bushnell
binoculars. Birds were sorted as to flyby, sitting on beach, sitting
on ocean or sitting on river.

Notes: There were very large numbers of BROWN PELICANS loafing for
the entire hour on the beach. Large numbers of BRANDT'S CORMORANTS
were heading northward. Most COMMON MURRES on the water were tending
juvenile birds.
