Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday August 13. If you have anything to add call

A SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHER was at Malheur NWR Headquarters August 7. It
was last seen moving east along the Princeton-Narrows Road.

The LEAST TERN continues to be seen along the nature trail behind the
Marine Science Center on Yaquina Bay. It has been in the area over two
weeks.

On August 6 a LONG-TOED STINT was reported from the Bayocean Shorebird
Flats on Tillamook Bay. Another was reported August 9 from New River,
south of Bandon. Neither were relocated. LONG-TOED STINTS are extremely
difficult to separate from Least Sandpipers. If one is suspected take
careful detailed notes and photos if possible. Immediately contact other
birders to verify the record, and expect skepticism. There are several
records for the West Coast.

A SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER was at New River August 12. Another was with a
number of other shorebirds at Bandon August 8. A WILLET was on the North
Sipt of Coos Bay that day.

An ANCIENT MURRELET was between the jetties at Yaquina Bay August 8. A
WHITE-TAILED KITE was at Cascade Head August 10.

Shorebirding has been slow along the northern Oregon coast so far this
fall. On August 6 a PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER was on the shorebird flats at
Tillamook Bay. A PARASITIC JAEGER has been patrolling inside Tillamook
Bay all week. A BLACK SWIFT was at the South Jetty of the Columbia River
August 6.

Sauvie Island continues slow but over 400 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and up
to 62 GREAT EGRETS have been at Ridgefield NWR. Baskett Slough NWR has
been good for shorebirds also with 8 GREAT EGRETS being seen there.

During the afternoon of August 5 several hundred VAUX'S SWIFTS checked
out a North Eugene chimney but moved on without using it.
