Hi All,
The census route had a few new arrivals today: GREEN-WINGED TEAL(3) and one
NORTHERN PINTAIL.
I also got my first ever view of an immature CEDAR WAXWING. It seemed far
more different from the adult than the picture in Peterson suggests.
Today was the day for shorebirds, 6 species. I know you folks on the coast
are up to your elbows in them, but it takes some hunting and some luck to
get them here. First you have to wait for the lake level to drop so that
mudflats appear, then you scan and scan and scan. Makes one appreciate the
expression "Here's mud in your eye".

Killdeer (4)
Lesser Yellowlegs (2)
Solitary Sandpiper
Least Sandpiper (7)
Baird's Sandpiper (3)

Happy birding
