Subject: Kingfishers

This morning there were at least 5 Belted Kingfishers at the Ballard
Locks in Seattle. One youngster on the cable, four or maybe five around
the railroad bridge and the bank below Pescatore Restauraunt. At least
two of these looked like youngsters, (Juvenile? sub-adult? I never know
what to call a just fledged bird) they were a bit far away. Lots of
noisy arial gymnastics.

Other than that it was really slow, a few cormorants flying overhead, the
only gulls were Glacous-winged, lots of starlings and geese. It is a
great year for chinook salmon though.
