Tuesday, Aug 18, 8:32 am. Hi this is Tom Aversa. 782-7342. Just had an
UPLAND SANDPIPER on the Montlake Fill. It flew in from the Northeast at
about 6:45 am. It was still there at about 8 when I left. There may even be
more than 1 bird. It started towering/cowering (?) completely out of sight
and then birded again after that. Then best thing is to just look for the
mellow three note call very furtive down in the grass. Also good numbers of
land birds. Quite a few warblers there in the Fill.

Monday, Aug 17, 7:17 am. This is Scott Atkinson reporting for Sunday, Aug
16. Pretty slow for shorebirds at the Jensen Access to the Skagit Wildlife
Management Area but I did have large numbers of peeps among which I had 8
SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS. Also an early returning WESTERN MEADOWLARK at
Jensen. They don't nest in the area there so I figured it was a migrant.
And also 5 BLACK SWIFTS over at 137th and Getchal Road between Marysville
and Granite.

Sunday, Aug 16, 7:05 pm. Hello this is Craig Kemper reporting for Sunday
Aug 16. This afternoon at 5 pm at the Montlake Fill I observed 1 LESSER
YELLOWLEGS. 1 RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, 3 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS, along with
a few WESTERN and LEAST SANDPIPERS.

Sunday, Aug 16, 6:51 pm. This is Scott Hoskins, 206-789-8990. Today at
Spencer Island, just north of the barn as you cross the bridge, there were
4 EASTERN KINGBIRDS in a snag. At least one of which was a young bird. Also
of note there was a MERLIN and a PEREGRINE FALCON, at least 5 LONG-BILLED
DOWITCHERS, 1 COMMON SNIPE, 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, and good numbers of small
peeps, LEASTS and WESTERNS.

Sunday, Aug 16, 4:34 pm. Hi this is Steven Mlodinow. Today Jim (?) and I
went up to the Vancouver area, at Point Roberts by the lighthouse, there
was a juvenal LITTLE GULL. Also in this vicinity there are 3 FRANKLIN'S
GULLS. At the Iona sewage treatment ponds there was a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW,
3 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS and a handful of SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS.

Sunday, Aug 16, 5:01 am. Hi this is Steven Mlodinow. Actually the GODWIT
was not at Graveyard Spit but was at the Jetty at Tokeland

Sunday, Aug 16, 4:58 am. Hi this is Steven Mlodinow. This is a call
regarding Aug 15 for Craig Kemper and Jim Flynn. They were at the Ocean
Shores/Tokeland area on the 15th and had the BAR-TAILED GODWIT still at
Tokeland at Graveyard Spit. Also there were a couple of BAIRD SANDPIPERS on
the beach at Damon Point.

Saturday, Aug 15, 1:58 pm. Hi this is Steven Mlodinow. Today Jason
Starfire, Chuck Sontag and I went out to Crockett Lake. Actually it was
kind of slow, although there was an adult, molting PACIFIC GOLDEN PLOVER on
the northeast corner, as well as a couple of SEMI-PALMATED SANDPIPERS.

Friday, Aug 14, 11:37 pm. Hi this is Sam Terry at 206-329-9038. Today out
at Ocean Shores at Damon Point Pond, there was 1 juvenal SEMI-PALMATED
SANDPIPER. along with 4 LEASTS, 1 WESTERN and 6 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS.
And at Bill's Spit there were 2 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS, along with a
normal flock of large shorebirds

Friday, Aug 14, 8:35 pm. Hi this is Jim Flynn at 206-772-5568. And I'm just
reporting for Scott Downes that on Lopez Island today at Port Stanley, he
saw 46 STILT SANDPIPERS, apparently this is a species that's starting to
make a movement, so it's something you might watch for this weekend.

Thursday, Aug 13, 8:25 pm. Hi this is Steven Mlodinow. Today at the Everett
Sewage ponds along the northeast side there were at least 2 young EASTERN
KINGBIRDS and at the south side with a couple of BONAPARTE'S there was a
young FRANKLIN'S GULL. PURPLE MARTINS remain quite evident at the Everett
waterfront north of the public boat launch.
