Thanks to Maureen Ellis, Herb Curl, Kelly Cassidy, and Wes Jansen for
help identifying the bird. I'm convinced it must have been a young
spotted towhee. The tail was a bit longish looking and I did hear
a number of towhee noises in the area prior to the sighting. I'm
quite sure it wasn't a junco, and the fact that the sky was overcast
with a dark foreboding cloud passing overhead precludes reflected
sunlight.
