The female XANTUS' HUMMINGBIRD continues to be seen daily in Gibsons
although less frequently. Birders must phone ahead to arrange a time to
visit. Please call Lynn at 604 886-3338. Detailed directions will given on
the next alert update.

Sightings for Wednesday, August 19th

A BREWER'S SPARROW was discovered on the Canfor Spit in broom near the log
dump. This is the spit starting just beyond the parking lot at Iona R.P.
Also seen was a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, and a RED-EYED VIREO. A LINCOLN'S
SPARROW was seen at the sewage ponds and the TUFTED DUCK was again observed
on the outer pond.

Six BLACK TURNSTONE and a FRANKLIN'S GULL were observed from the Tsawwassen
Jetty.

Another 2 FRANKLIN'S GULLS were seen at Point Roberts.

On a wire along 104th was a WESTERN KINGBIRD.

At Beach Grove were 1 WILSON'S PHALAROPE and 10 RED-NECKED PHALAROPE.

A possible RUFOUS-NECKED STINT was sighted at the foot of 112th on Boundary
Bay. Confirmation of this sighting is desired. Also from the foot of 112th
was a RUDDY TURNSTONE.

An OSPREY was observed over the Fraser River in New Westminster.

At Colony Farm was a COMMON NIGHTHAWK.

Tuesday, August 18th
A CASSIN'S AUKLET was seen in the morning from Point Roberts, Lighthouse
Park. Also reported were 3 FRANKLIN'S GULLS and 3 RED-NECKED PHALAROPES.

Beach Grove has sightings of 9 RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, a WILSON'S PHALAROPE,
a WANDERING TATTLER, and 30 COMMON TERNS.

The GREAT EGRET was reported from the Tsawwassen Jetty along with the
WILLET and 5 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS.

An AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER and a RED KNOT were observed with a large flock
of BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS at the foot of 112th at Boundary Bay.

Seen at the Iona ponds was a SOLITARY SANDPIPER.

Sunday, August 16th

The LITTLE GULL was observed at Point Roberts' Lighthouse Park along with 3
FRANKLIN'S GULLS.

A CASSIN'S AUKLET was seen in the morning at the tip of the Iona Jetty.
Also seen from the tip were 3 WANDERING TATTLERS, 2 PARASITIC JAEGERS and
200+ COMMON TERNS.

A CLAY-COLOURED SPARROW, an immature, was seen between the NE & SE sewage
ponds. Also seen at the ponds were 2 juv RED KNOT, 2 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS, a
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, an albino BARN SWALLOW, MERLIN and AMERICAN
KESTREL.

A GREEN HERON was reported from Sea Island.

At Beach Grove Lagoon were a GREAT EGRET, 6 RED-NECKED PHALAROPE, and a
WILSON'S PHALAROPE,

At Blackie Spit were 2 PURPLE MARTINS, a LONG-BILLED CURLEW, and an OSPREY.

A RUDDY TURNSTONE was seen at the foot of 112th on Boundary Bay.

Recent Vancouver locations for CRESTED MYNAS are Burrard & 2nd, Wylie &
2nd, Hudson and Marine and the south end of the Cambie St. Bridge.
