Subject: Photo of new species

Hi Dan

Here's a couple photos of a gull new to science, tentatively named
"Sickle-billed Gull", discovered by myself on 8-17-98 and photographed
today 8-19-98. Please feel free to put in the photo gallery for comments
if you'd like. The other gulls in the photo, for comparison, are immature
ring-billed gulls. Location is Lion's Park, on the Skagit River, in Mt.
Vernon.

What is it? why is the bill like this? Maybe some of the erudite Tweeters
can help.

Thanks,

Dan Logen
