Hi Dan,

My partner and I had the pleasure of birding in Washington State in early
August, and were scoping Golden Plovers across from the 3 Crabs restaurant
in Dungeness on August 10th. They looked like the American Golden Plovers
in Peterson's Western Guide, not Pacific Goldens. (i.e., the ones in almost
full breeding plumage seemed to lack the white stripe that extends along the
flank of the Pacific Golden Plover). Peterson's also says, however, that
Pacfic Goldens are the most likely to be seen in the Pacific states. Could
you tell us what we were most likely looking at? Or give us an email
address for someone who might know?

Thanks,

Chuck Heikkinen
