Dear Tweets, Thanks to all who posted about reliable
binocs docs. I will try one of the two companies in
Seattle, on the theory that I won't have to trust
to the mail for transport, just to my Aerostar (built
Ford tough, you know, so it's only had one piece of
engine go flying off in the last three years). I
know it's probably a toss-up with regard to jostling,
but I'll give my van a whirl.

FYI, just got back from a glorious trip to the Fill
this morning, Saturday, Aug. 22. Checked out the willows
and scrub along the fence-line directly south of the
Urban Hort building and had a mini-fallout of warblers.
We saw MacGillivray's (immature), abundant orange-
crowneds, black-throated gray (2), Wilson's, and
common yellowthroat. It's the most warblers we've
seen in a year.

Also present: wood duck (2 among the lily pads
in the bay on the east side), dowitchers (2 - fast
asleep so couldn't tell which kind), least and
western sandpipers.

Also of course, the usual suspects: flicker, Bewick's
wrens (abundant), chickadees (most I've ever seen at
one time at the Fill), etc. etc. etc.

For the first few hours, my husband and I were the
only people there. The previous evening, we had had
to go to Toys backwards R Us. The place was packed
with people. What is wrong with this picture? Maybe
we're just turning into geezers.
