Tweeters,

The fall migrations shows signs of beginning in Vanderhoof, central B.C.
This morning at 6:00 am we heard the first Canadian Geese fly over the
house heading for the migratory bird santuary 1/2 mile up river.
We also noticed a flock of young Robins in the mountain ash tree in the
front yard testing for ripe berries. They were accompanied by immature
Red Wing Blackbirds,Pine Siskins, the usual Black capped Chickadees, a
Female Common Yellowthroat and a Northern Flicker on the grass underneath.
We have not had a frost yet nor any sign that it is approaching but the
birds seem to be flocking in greater numbers each day. We have
had a warm summer with no late frost and the berry crops in our yard are
plentiful this year although I understand that the dry conditions have
limited the crop in the bush. My four seed feeders are being emptied
daily of black oil sunflower seeds. We saw a Female Rufous Hummingbird
waiting for us to move away from the feeder last night but they have
become much fewer in number over the last 2 weeks. I guess it won't be
long now before fall is upon us.
