Saturday on our way to see our daughter near Cusick we stopped at
Reardon and checked the ever shrinking ponds.

To our amazment we saw two SORA (adult and juv) and two VIRGINA RAILS
(adult and juv) lifers. They were right in the open and as close as 6
feet from the edge of the road.

I got some photos. I tried to get a photo of both species in the same
frame, but was unsucessful. I guess I should have backed up a bit. Oh
for a zoom lense.

As long as we moved very slow, they seemed unconcerned at our presence.

We stopped there on our way home today and saw them again at the same
location.

The approximate location:
As you start across the road between the ponds there is a blue sign on
the right that reads--Spring Creek Grange. The next power pole on the
left is where they were seen. It is a small open muddy area.

They were even feeding in the ditch along the road and would only run
back in the reeds when a car went by. Within a minute or so they would
be back out in the open. We watched them for about 30 minutes both times
we were there. For anyone that has these on their 'better view desired'
list, that is the place to go.

Oh yes, there was also a juv. SORA on the right side of the road near
the Grange sign.
