Tweets,

Just got back on Tweeters after a two year hiatus and it's great to read
the messages again!

Our family is going to Alaska Sept. 12 - 19. We will spend a day or two
in Anchorage and the rest of the time in Seward. I just wondered if
anyone had any suggestions? Anything up there now that we just have to
see? There is a complicating factor: I have a two year old daughter who
is, fortunately, into birds and nature, but does have the attention span
and activity level of a two year old. We probably will not be taking
long hikes (okay, we could, but she's really big and, ahem, heavy. I
know who would be carrying her if she got tired!). Potter's Marsh
sounds good, and the Lagoon in Anchorage also seems like a good place,
as does the coastal trail. Any other ideas are welcome!

Also, from those Tweets who have been or are in Alaska, I'd love to know
about the likelihood of seeing some birds and animals that time of year.
For instance, many books mention the Belugas, but are they still seen in
mid-September? Puffins are another thing it would be nice to see. This
is not a "power birding" trip, but I am also trying to prepare my
daughter for what she might expect, not to mention myself!

Thanks!
