A pair of Barred Owls in Montlake Terrace fledged two young earlier this
year. The area is undergoing a mini-building boom, however, so suitable
habitat and increasing disturbance may drive these birds out. Otherwise,
Barred Owls seem to be firmly established in the Puget Trough. Another
posting re Band-tailed Pigeons mentioned rats under feeders and I see them
(rats) all the time, so there's no doubt there's plenty of of prey.
