Hi Maureen,

Yahoo is right! I've never seen a Ruddy Turnstone in
King County. Many's the time though that I've scanned that
jetty thinking "there's just got to be a rocky shorebird here
once in a while".
I checked Gene Hunn's book which was printed in 1982 -
there were NO records. Since then I've written a couple of
reports from Discovery Park in my book: 1 on May 15th, 1983
seen by Mr. Hunn himself, and 3 on August 14-15, 1993 seen by ?.
There may be other records but I thnk you can see how rare they
are here. Nice job!
Keep up the great reports. It's certainly encouraging
to hear that Band-tailed Pigeon numbers seem to be rising. Does
anyone else on Tweeters know what their gamebird status is in
WA, OR and CA? I'm wondering if a decrease in hunting pressure
might be responsible for a population change.
