................South of The Narrows, and around Coon Point in Sauvie
Island's Sturgeon Lake area, the mudflats are losing most of the water
that is left----mostly small shallow areas toward the center of these
areas Afair number of Sandpipers present. ...mostly Western, with a few
with different size and coloration from the rest....appearing to be some
Baird's, and a couple of Pectorel Sandpipers. But, due to the distance,
two things need to happen before Icould identify what I saw with
*absolute certainty*: a higher quality spotting-scope with better optics
at 30-50 power, and to be able to get in closer to my objects of
attention( which was impossible due to several closed gates).
Some Killdeer present, along with 4 Greater Yellowlegs at the
Narrows(easiier to identify due to increased size!!!!)
..............Several hundred Canada Geese of rather large size
(Probably Western, maybe Vancouver(doubtful!!)) on Mud Lake. Made so
much noise, it sounded like what one would hear in wintertime. All of
these geese, in small flocks, eventually flew overhead to the north
west.
Cheers!!!!!!!!!
