I haven't seen anyone post our sightings from the SAS field trip to Sequim
and Port Angeles yesterday.

The best sighting was two or 3 ANCIENT MURRELETS close in on the ocean side
of Ediz Hook, right out from the rest rooms at the end of the hook. We had
about eight 3-second looks from perhaps 30 yards before they moved offshore.

Also at the hook were 7 BROWN PELICANS flying east. Later we headed over to
the cliffs just west of Dungeness Spit and saw another group of around six
pelicans (conceivably the same ones). A couple of times single birds were
seen.

On the log booms on the bay side of Ediz Hook we had at least two Black
Oystercatcher, perhaps 20 Black Turnstone, a couple of dozen Barrow's
Goldeneye, and several fantastic views of Harlequin Duck.

We tried, without success, for the Emperor Goose.

In the ponds across the street from the Three Crabs restaurant, we had an
absolutely gorgeous Eurasion Wigeon to end the day. In all, we had just
over 60 species for the day, despite awful weather almost the whole day,
with high winds and heavy rains at times, even within the Sequim rain-shadow
areas.

Oh - and on the ferry from Edmonds to Kingston in the morning, we had two
Brant off the starboard bow.
