Hi folks -

For those who may not have heard on last evening's news, about 100 or so
"beached" birds were brought into the PAWS Wildlife Center, formerly HOWL, for
rehabbing. The report said that the birds were from the Ocean Shores area and
seemed to be primarily dehydrated and exhausted.

They were soliciting volunteers and/or money to help out. As you might be
aware, they receive government funding for oil rescues, but rely on donations
for situations like this. They also would appreciate people willing to do
some husbandry.

If you are interested in helping, you should call (425) 787-2500. The phone
lines were swamped last night, however, you will probably be able to leave a
message and they will call you back. If not, extension 818 is the Wildlife
Ctr. Volunteer Coordinator and extension 817 is the Wildlife receptionist.
