Birders,
We spent most of Dec 5th on Bateman Island in Richland. We saw:
1 male PURPLE FINCH (still coming to our feeders, got a photo)
(It only came to the white bucket feeder on the left. Bring seed.)
(Look for the white under the tail & almost no streaking on flanks)
2 Hermit Thrush
15 White Pelicans
12 Dunlin
1 Bald Eagle
3 Spotted Towhees
1 "Myrtle" Yellow-rumped Warbler
1 "Slate" Dark-eyed Junco
1 Gr Horned Owl
2 Marsh Wrens
3 Bewick's Wrens
It was nice until about 3:00 when the rain/snow hit.
The feeders are starting to concentrate the 50+ White-crowned Sparrows
10+ Black-capped Chickadees, and at least 100 House Finches.
We are a little surprised there are no unusual sparrows.
The Fox Sparrows & Harris' Sparrow we had in October have evidently gone
or maybe the Sharp-shinned Hawks escorted them elsewhere!
Good Birding,
Craig Corder & Judy Stevens
