On Friday Kris Baker and I saw a plethora of short eared owls (5) and
harriers(10+) at the Skagit North Fork Access, beyond Blake's Resort. The
owls put on quite an aerial show, chasing each other around. The tens of
thousands of ducks were pretty much all mallards. More harriers were to be
seen further North at the bend, as well as many red tails. One large falcon
was briefly seen, but not identified.
Snow buntings, a small but active flock of about 20 was around the shallow
ponds by the hunting access.
It was cold but worth it!
