Actually I would like information about guides to Baja birds of the
mainland. Please send it. My first visit to Mexico was so enchanting that
my life companion and I have decided to return for several weeks next
Christmas. But my birding companion and I found the Audubon Guide to Birds
of North America regrettably deficient when it came to identifying
indigenous and some migrant birds of Baja. The line drawn at the
U.S./Mexico border did not enhance our efforts to identify each bird.
Mainland Baja is part of the Sonoran desert, which also includes Arizona
and New Mexico. In fact, North America includes Mexico, so it is misleading
to title a guide as Audubon did and only describe species in the context of
their occurrence north of our border with Mexico.
