Dear Researcher-types on Tweeters:
I have found Tweeters a helpful resource for my work as a freelance
feature writer. (Birding, Living Bird, WildBird, etc.) I have recently
been approached by an editor who uses several science news briefs per
day on a large web site (Discovery Channel Online). He asked me to look
for stories for him, offbeat stories that he can't pick up off of
national sources. Those of you engaged in any kind of reviewed
research, please let me know when you have some results you'd like
publicized. I need stories with a "news trigger;" that is, the new
science work you're doing has to have been recently published or
presented at a meeting or event. Plus, this editor always asks the
question, "why am I running this TODAY?" If it can be related to
something seasonal, or something else in the news currently, the story
is more likely to be used. (His top story today was about "Smart"
bombs.) I also need multimedia (picture, animation or sound) to
accompany the story, if possible.
