Weird day, since I was doing survey work for the Corps of Engineers at the
beginning. But the weather was glorious.

Birding highlights included:
Green Heron 2 Beautiful adults near the
beaver lodge
Bald Eagle 2 Beautiful adults at the
lake
Red-tailed Hawk 4 At least. Quite a lot for such
a small area.
Downy Woodpecker 5 At least. All over, and noisy.

There were a couple of coyotes yipping and calling at each other
(playfully?) on the west side of the slough. We couldn't see them, but we
sure could hear them. It made several of the dogs near us rather excited.
Then, later, I saw a coyote in the meadow on the east side of the nature
trail, so there were at least 3 around today.
