Paul,

I've been hearing about these conures for some time now, (several years) but haven't seen them. I seem to recall that Dennis Paulson identified them as scarlet-fronted conures, Aratinga wagleri. They are very similar to mitred conure and to Finsch's conure. Check out this website...

Green parakeet identifiers:

In response to requests for identifying characteristics of the green
parakeets: We're not sure of the exact species but some have told us that
they are Mitered Conures (sp?). They are mostly green, have red on their
foreheads and shoulders and blue tinting on their wingtips and tail
feathers. Underneath they show a bit of yellow. The bills are light and
there is a light ring around the eyes. The feet are gray. They are 8 to 10
inches in length.
