Dear Tweeters:

Here are the results of the Penticton BC, Christmas Bird Count, still
unofficial, but close to being final. Weather was rather cold (3 to 14 F),
but the wind was light and we didn't have any fog or precipitation to
complain about.

Worst miss was California Gull, sitting on the beach today just like they
always do except apparently on count day. Mountain Bluebird was the
highlight; Ruby-crowned Kinglet was also nice on such a wintry day.
Nuthatches and woodpeckers seemed particularly low in numbers, but quail
were abundant; the latter number is a new world record, I'm sure.

91 species is a bit below our 10-year average of 95.
