So the freeze came. The hummingbird feeder was freezing up in about 45
minutes. Mr. Anna's was out there virtually squaking at me, nonstop. I was
alternating feeders, bringing one in to thaw, hanging the other, leaky one
out, etc. etc.

Inspiration. I dug out the trouble light from the basement, hung it next to
the feeder, and with about 30 feet of exterior extension cord, wired the
thing around the corner of the house, through the mailbox slot, and into the
basement where there is a plug.

The interesting outcome of this, besides the fact that the feeder no longer
freezes up, is that Mr. Anna's doesn't really like being in the spotlight.
He comes in and feeds and then flys off to his perch on the telephone wire.
Ms. Anna's now has an opportunity to feed regularly, which was not the case
before the light because Mr. A spent all his time sitting on the perch,
snarling when ever she appeared.

Happy holidays to one and all (including the Sharpies)
