Hello Tweets,

The 2 SKYLARKS were again present today north of Sequim and west of Sequim
Ave. along E. Anderson Rd. in a large field north of the road. 1 bird was
first located at 9:45pm, and was observed several times in flight, as well
as flushed from the ground on several attempts, then rejoined the second
bird, after 2 hours of searching, and were well observed in spotting scopes
and later photographed together on the ground. The bird DID NOT appear as
golden-yellow today, as in prior observations and photos taken on the 23rd,
as many observers were present today, with no determination as to exactly
what subspecies they are, due to lighting conditions, etc., but several
discussions were brought up, if they could possibly be the introduced
subspecies in fresh plumage, which could show very buffy, golden tones on
the wings, back, and breast. The birds were seen until 4pm, when my mother
and I, Vicki Biltz left the sight along with John Gatchet, Bob and Michael
Willison and others. The birds remain still quite elusive as they fly froim
field to field, and hide and forage in camouflage in short tufts of grass
along with the presence of several predators in the vicinity such as:
Merlin, Northen Harrier, Cooper's Hawk, and Northern Shrike(today), which
might add to their behavior here.
