Subject: Bridgeport CBC results

The 3rd Bridgeport CBC was held Sat., Dec. l9th. We set a new number of
species record of 89. In addition, 5 other species were seen during count
week: Tundra Swan, Barrow's Goldeneye, White-winged Scoter, Long-eared Owl
and Townsend's Solitaire. Eleven new species were seen for the first time:
Eared and Western Grebe, Cinnamon Teal, Common Snipe,Western and
Glaucous-winged Gulls, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Brown Creeper, Brewer's
Blackbird , Purple Finch and Pine Siskins. (Two of the CW birds were also
new for this count: White-winged Scoter and Long-eared Owl.) Total number
of individuals was down, only l5,85l.
We did get our target bird: 3 Sharp-tailed Grouse, but missed Greater
Scaup, Golden Eagle and Cedar Waxwing. Meredith Spencer
