This morning in the wind and rain, I found a dead Canada Goose on the trail
along the south side of Larsen L. Its head had been chewed off and the only
parts left were pieces of its bill. The rest of the body was intact. I
haven't seen a coyote there in two years and I can't imagine a coyote not
eating more of the goose, unless it was scared off. Would a dog do something
like this? Also Red-tailed Hawks are regularly in the area and a Bald Eagle
once or twice in a year.

Also, saw 5 Common Snipe in the wetlands north of the boardwalk. The first
Western Grebe for this winter on Phantom L. showed up on Sat. and was still
there this morning.
