Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Oregon Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Wednesday December 30. If you have anything to add

An ARCTIC LOON was reported December 26 near the bridge over Blind Slough
at Brownsmead, east of Astoria. It was relocated the next day and may
still be in the area.

The BRAMBLING continues to be seen in the neighborhood around SE 13th.
and Malden Streets east of Sellwood Park in Portland.

The YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER continues to be seen at Colin Dillingham's
house east of Gold Beach. On December 24 a BULLOCK'S ORIOLE was seen
there. To see the birds contact Colin at 541-247-4752.

The TUFTED DUCK is still in the Bingen, Washington area of the Columbia
River Gorge. It moves around a bit so check all along the river.

A GOLDEN-PLOVER was near Cape Blanco December 28 but was not identified
to species. The December 26 Port Orford Count recorded 39 ANCIENT
MURRELETS, but only one MARBLED MURRELET. Several SWAMP SPARROWS, a PALM
WARBLER, and 10 LAPLAND LONGSPURS were also counted.

The December 20 Coos Bay Count recorded a high 155 species. A GRAY JAY,
an AVOCET, a RED PHALAROPE, two OSPREYS, and 8 OLDSQUAWS were seen along
with 2 CLARK'S GREBES, 2 FULMARS, 7 BROWN PELICANS, a PIGEON GUILLEMOT,
and a calling SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER. The empidonax flycatcher that has
been in the area for over a week was missed. On December 29 four TREE
SWALLOWS were over the North Spit of Coos Bay.

The December 26 Florence Count found five KITTIWAKES, 4 MOUNTAIN QUAIL,
and a flock of RED CROSSBILLS. They also counted 1223 WHITE-WINGED
SCOTERS and another 1105 unidentified scoters.

The December 27 Sauvie Island Count was taken in high winds and heavy
rains. Two GREATER SCAUP, several GREATER YELLOWLEGS and over 300 CRANES
were seen. A TRUMPETER SWAN was on Post Office Lake, and a RED-SHOULDERED
HAWK was in the Carty Unit of Ridgefield NWR.

On December 26 Five CINNAMON TEAL, a HARRIS'S SPARROW, two BARN OWLS, and
a SHORT-EARED OWL were at Steigerwald Lake near Washougal, Washington.

The December 26 Forest Grove Count reached a high 109 species with both
goldeneyes, CINNAMON TEAL, and GREATER YELLOWLEGS recorded.

The BURROWING OWL continues to be seen along Dever-Conner Road north of
Albany and the 119th. Street BURROWING OWL east of Salem is still there.

The December 22 Corvallis Count recorded a TREE SWALLOW, a BRANT, and a
BARRED OWL. On December 26 a MOCKINGBIRD was seen in Corvallis.

On December 23 two JUNIPER TITMICE were with a group of MOUNTAIN
CHICKADEES seven miles south of Adel in Lake County. Nearby was a roost
of 20 SHORT-EARED OWLS and one LONG-EARED OWL. The next day the Summer
Lake Count found a SAGE THRASHER, a GREAT EGRET, a HARRIS'S SPARROW and a
flock of TREE SPARROWS.

The December 20 Wallowa Count located some PINE GROSBEAKS, REDPOLLS, and
both swans. Along Swamp Creek northeast of Enterprise were about 600
ROSY-FINCHES.
