This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Monday, December 28, Tuesday 7:00 am
update.

The rare bird alert continues for the Brambling. Other featured birds
include Slaty-backed Gull and Western Gull.


Sightings for Monday, December 28:

The BRAMBLING was at its usual place at Blackie Spit. The bird is
associating with sparrows in shoreline shrubs and trees at the north end of
the low pilings that span the mouth of Farm Slough.

A SLAY-BACKED GULL was seen along Hornby Drive at the intersection of
Highway 99 and 10 in Delta. 2 WESTERN GULLS were at 80th and Highway 10.

2 MARBLED GODWITS were at Boundary Bay Regional Park at the pump house
channel. 13 BRANT were also in the area. Another 28 BRANT were off the
Ferry Jetty.

Sunday, December 27:

An AMERICAN TREE SPARROW was seen at 13941- 40th Avenue in Surrey.

The HARRIS'S SPARROW was at its usual location at 2564 West 12th Avenue in
Vancouver. Birders are welcome to watch from the carport, which is accessed
from the back lane. The bird is sometimes at another feeder on the other
side of the lane.

As part of the Christmas Bird Count in Ladner, Westham Island had 3
EURASIAN WIGEON, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON and 2 BARN OWLS. Reifel had 2 SAW-WHET
OWLS, 1 BITTERN and 2 NORTHERN SHRIKES.

In a late report for Saturday, 1 WESTERN MEADOWLARK and an AMERICAN PIPIT
were at Blackie Spit.

Saturday, December 26:

1 SNOW BUNTING was on the South Jetty at Iona Island. 3 WESTERN SANDPIPERS
were with DUNLIN off the tip of the Jetty. Also seen at Iona and Sea Island
were 1 EURASIAN WIGEON, 3 NORTHERN SHRIKES and 5 VIRGINIA RAILS.
