It was heartening to hear that l4-year old Tyler is a budding birder. He
should be given all the encouragement possible. May there be more like
him. As regards Harlequins and Old Squaws, I census Sequim Bay almost
weekly, and at the mouth of the bay yesterday (l2/30) I counted l69
Harlequins and 49 Old Squaws. Numbers fluctuate quite a bit. To be
expected. I recall the CBC last year of the Admiralty chapter when we
saw several hundred Old Squaw flying past the old lighthouse at Fort
Flagler on Marrowstone Island. Small groups of l0-l5 were still flying
past when the light began failing. Gold is where you find it. An old
