To continue this thread on migration, I think of the migrants following the
shape of the "bell shaped" curve, some are early, some late but most in
the middle. Those "early birds" can take advantage of mild weather years
and might get a clutch off even before middle or late birds are incubating.
But the peak of migrants are the middle section.
And what about those late birds? They might help the population in poor
weather years, where the early birds have been hard hit by nature or
some other force...
I haven't yet seen or heard of any hummers here in E. WA yet, but I am
looking with this spring like weather.
